Remain Humble, Or Get Checked

There’s a lot to be said about remaining humble the higher your star rises. Watch the video below then read on.

Here are my three tips for keeping it humble:

Don’t get so wrapped up in your own media & hype that you forget who you are. It’s tempting to want to pat yourself on the back or hold your head higher as your star rises. But some people get carried away with it. Don’t become a “celebrity” in your own mind. I don’t care who you’re hanging out with. It doesn’t make you better than anyone. The same people who built you up will snatch you back down…quickly and painfully.

Stay humble. God (whichever one you choose to believe in) gives you everything in life. So always stay thankful. And people (customers, partners, associates, etc) contribute to your growth. Always remember you don’t do this alone and your success is bigger than you. The moment someone decides you’re feeling yourself too much, they will launch an assault to discredit you & bring you down.

If you’re always humble, no weapon formed against you shall prosper. But when you’re full of yourself, your fast rise turns to a fast fall. Being deliberately disrespectful is not cool, especially if you do it in a public forum like a social networking site. Even if your page is private, someone can always cut and paste what you wrote…and sometimes creatively edit it. Don’t give people ammunition to take you down. If there’s nothing to feed off of, there’s nothing people can do to hurt you.

Til next time,

As quickly as they build you up, they can tear you down with the blink of an eye
