2008 the Year of the “Empowered Black Woman”™
Celebrating 10 years of empowering Black Women
Atlanta, GA -- January 7, 2008 – This year marks the 10th anniversary of Empower Me!. There’s a lot to be said for the term “Sisters are doing it for themselves”. CEO and Founder, Adrienne Graham, has a new and improved powerful message for Black Women everywhere. Education + Action = TRUE Empowerment™.
Ten years ago, Graham launched Empower Me!, an organization for the empowerment of Black Women. Initially, she planned to create Empower Me! as an organization with a professional and entrepreneurial network to help women grow professionally. Graham has gone far beyond and built not only a powerful network to uplift, motivate and educate Black Women, but a resource that represents total empowerment.
Graham notes “Black women are progressive, business-minded, entrepreneurial, innovative, educated, driven, strong, financially savvy and decisive individuals. We hold a huge percentage of the spending power in households and decision-making in businesses. We are a growing economic force that holds more power than one might think. Word of mouth goes a long way, and we are becoming more aware of our futures and are instrumental in creating generational wealth. It’s all about empowerment through education and taking action”.
Through Empower Me!, Graham has worked to help put women of color in positions of leadership, support and mentor one another through networking, and do business with one another. Empower Me! serves to help pass on a legacy of self-sufficiency, business acumen, financial awareness and continuing education to future generations of Black Women. The organization offers networking events, local networking chapters, live & online courses, career fairs, workshops & seminars, career management consulting, entrepreneurial consulting, executive search and growth strategy consulting for businesses. Classes offered through the Empower Me! Institute,launch on Monday, January 14, 2008. Classes are live, web-based and interactive. The Institute provides courses in Career Development, Entrepreneurship, Business and Financial Well Being.
